1. Introduction
1.1 Screen capture
1.2 Brief summary
In contrast to the previous design, we have removed the zoom-in/zoom-out function, as it is possible to zoom in and out directly by moving the screen distance. Therefore, this redundant function has been discarded. Secondly, some of the UI design has been slightly modified this time.
1.3 elevator pitch
This is a application designed to help artists show their work to others more quickly through business cards. For use in the social media sphere.
2. Technical Development
2.1 Overview of the technical development
This project is built on a software application using mobile phones as hardware and contains the key application features that a new business card social media software needs to convey. The focus of the functionality is on virtualisation and interaction. A proof of concept prototype has now been developed.
2.2 Detailed explanation of key de aspects
- Unity engine
This is a platform for real-time 3D interactive content creation . The development team used this platform to build a general visual framework, attributes, and preview features for an intelligent business card mobile application.
- C# language
There are two main functions used in this project in C# code. One is used to control the switching of pages to show different profiles, and the other is used to control the playing and pausing of videos.
- Vuforia platform
This is one of the most commonly used platforms for AR development and it works well with Unity. The development team used this platform to add advanced visual features to successfully present AR business card applications to users in 2D or 3D views through Vuforia Scanner.
3. 3D Content
3.1 Overview of the 3D content with images
3.2 Detailed explanation of the key 3D content
The model is a modified laptop used as a presentation vehicle for the profile.
4. Usability Testing
Usability testing is an essential part of the process to assess whether a product has been developed to meet the needs of the majority of users and to reflect the true user experience. In the process of testing a product, user behaviour and feelings are observed, recorded and analysed to improve the product.
4.1 Design and Plan
Usability Testing | |
Testing Concerns |
|
Observers |
Responsible for recording the Participants’ expressions, controlling the duration of the test, etc. Handles all problems encountered during testing |
Survey Method | Questionnaires |
Location | Morris Miller library |
Time | 25/10/2022 1:30 PM |
Scenario | The simulated scenario is that of an artist handing out business cards, the recipient of the card scans the lego to see the artist's personal information, previous work etc. and interacts with the application. |
persona | The observer is the person who distributing the business cards. The participants are the recipients of the business cards |
4.2 Recruitment
The survey team recruited five participants for the test. Three were recruited from the tutorial session, but for more accurate results, two more participants were recruited from the art school for testing.
5 participants:
Name | Age |
Cindy | 20 |
Linda | 25 |
Neo | 22 |
Nick | 30 |
Eric | 35 |
4.3 Protocol of the testing
The investigator booked a room in a librarian after confirming the time and place with the five participants. It was guaranteed that the test could be conducted without disturbance. Immediately afterwards, the participants were explained the purpose of the test and how to use the app, how it functions, etc. After each participant had downloaded the mobile , the survey began.
4.4 Report of the findings
| SA | A | N | D | SD |
Need to hand out or receive business cards | 40% | 20% | 40% | 0% | 0% |
Useful than paper business cards | 80% | 20% | 0% | 0% | 0% |
Control the pop-up box very well | 60% | 20% | 20% | 0% | 0% |
Smooth flow | 40% | 20% | 20% | 20% | 0% |
Fully functional | 60% | 20% | 20% | 0% | 0% |
Clear display of work | 0% | 0% | 20% | 60% | 20% |
With regard to some open questions, some people feel that the presence of social features is not very meaningful. Others feel that the functional aspects should be a little better, for example by adding some emojis etc.
4.5 Analyses of the findings
As can be seen from the survey data above, the overall satisfaction of respondents with the app remains high and the app remains very useful in everyday life. It is clear to see that the areas that need improvement are the clarity of the presentation of the work and the smoothness of using the features.
5. Addressing the result of the usability testing
5.1 Detail a plan to address the user feedback
Once the test results were tallied, the team updated the app's production based on the results. It was found that the reason for the lack of clarity in the display of the work was that the size of the inserted images did not comply with the specifications, resulting in the display of the work being too large. The images were then reinserted and changed to the correct size. To address the issue of smoothness of using the features, group re-examined the relationship between the features and re-arranged the order of the features to ensure that the user has a clear line of movement when using the product.
If additional features need to be added in the future, stability and consistency in the use of the app will be ensured first.
5.2 Detail the changes made to the interface application
It is important to maintain the smoothness of the application function and the stability of the presentation of the work. This is because for the user, they need the app to provide them with a stable and smooth flow of app usage, once they encounter a lag or error in one part, it can cause impatience and directly affect customer satisfaction. A good application, user experience must be the key to determine the acceptance and satisfaction. It may seem simple to keep the app running smoothly without lagging and in line with most users' habits, but it is actually a more detailed test of a team's R&D and design, reflecting the comprehensive competitiveness it possesses. This is especially true for the ar business card project. If even the most important function of displaying your work has problems, how can you provide users with a good display of your work? And what will be used to capture the customer?
